Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)

Furthermore, as of 1st October 2009, we have also become a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). The aim of the BSCI – and therefore also the aim of SPEQ GmbH – is to support socially responsible production conditions and to achieve a sustainable improvement of social standards in the supplying countries. The basis for this is the Code of Conduct of the BSCI, which contains the following guidelines which suppliers must adhere to:

  • Adhering to the nationally applicable laws
  • Ensuring the freedom of assembly and the right to collective negotiations
  • The banning of discrimination of any kind
  • Adhering to the legal minimum wage and ensuring sustenance
  • Fixing the maximum number of working hours at 48 hours per week and limiting overtime
  • Clear rules and procedures for health and safety in the work place
  • The banning of child labour
  • The banning of forced labour and disciplinary measures
  • Adhering to the minimum requirements for waste management, the handling of chemicals and other dangerous substances, their disposal, for emissions and for wastewater treatment
  • Determining a policy for social responsibility and evidence of a management system which ensures that the requirements of the BSCI Code of Conduct can be fulfilled
